Desired Things

When we go to quilt market, there are many things we desire to have, but the pocket book doesn't always agree.  One thing we couldn't pass up at market this spring was the latest collection by Robin Pandolph called "Desired Things" in the yellow colorway.  The gorgeous coral florals set against a bright yellow background just called to us, how about you?

Farmers Market

Wednesday evenings throughout the summer, Leoti's Farmers Market lines main street.  Baked goods, produce and more tempt the locals.  At the shop, we have our own version of baked goods and produce - RJR's fat quarter collection called 'Farmers Market'. Perfect for that special touch on any kitchen project, from aprons to tea towels to produce bags and potato baking bags.  Stop by and check them out!

105 Kansas Quilts 4 Kansas 150th

If you haven't seen the quilt exhibit "105 Kansas Quilts 4 Kansas 150th" at the Stauth Memorial Museum in Montezuma, hurry up and get there!  The exhibit features a quilt from each of the 105 Kansas Counties along with their histories.  The exhibit ends August 14.  Wichita County's quilt is a redwork quilt featuring the names of members of the First Methodist Church of Leoti, made in 1936 for the church's 50th anniversary. The quilt was raffled as a fundraiser and eventually ended up at the Wichita County museum.  It's just one of many beautiful quilts on display.

All Spruced Up

Here's a fun little Christmas wallhanging sure to put the finishing holiday touches to any room.  "All Spruced Up" is our version of Jodi Barrow's Square in a Square pattern.  Using Jodi's technique ruler makes the nice precise points on this tree a snap to make. We have kits now available for this 33" x 38" quilt, so pick yours up today before we run out!

Dandelion Daydreams

We're in Christmas mode at the shop, but that doesn't mean everything is Christmas. The latest fabric to arrive is "Dandelion Daydreams" by Maywood Studios.  These beautiful muted earthy tones would make great bags, aprons and, yes, even quilts!  What gal wouldn't love a handbag made from this fabric wrapped up in a pretty bow under the tree this Christmas.

It's August....Can Fall Be Far Behind?

Each year after packing away our summer memories, we look forward to the crisp, cool "Flannel Days" of fall. Days that are filled with the sound of leaves crunching under boots on long walks, the tempting aroma of slow simmering soups and stews and the beauty of fiery sunsets. It’s time to layer on flannel shirts by day and flannel sheets at night to chase away the evening’s chill. It’s time to stitch up simple quilts with beautiful, brushed prints that warm the body and soul of family and friends. Kansas Troubles' Lynne Hagmeier's new flannel collection for Moda captures the feeling of those crisp, cool fall days. But don't wait until then to pick up these great fabrics because they may not last that long!
