Whistle while they work

Santa's elves are STILL working away on samples for our Christmas In July big event (do they ever sleep?)! Hmmmm, we hear sounds of 'Fa la la la la' drifting from the North Pole. What could they be working on? Can you guess?

Christmas In July Project Peek

Santa's elves are still busily sewing samples for our Christmas In July events (July 9-23). Since we are hosting our own event this year, we've decided to do a Christmas In July "Project Kit" instead of the traditional shop hop. We're finalizing details on costs, but wanted to give you a sneak peek anyway.....The "Merry Screen" is featured in the latest Nancy Halvorsen (Art To Heart) book. We're featuring two colorways, Nancy's "Jingle All The Way" and Lynne Hagmeier's (Kansas Troubles) "Warm Memories". Sign up before July 1 for special discounts.

Grand Finale

grand fi-nal-e (noun): A very spectacular ending to a performance or show. Here's what Sandy Gervais, fabric designer for Moda, says about her latest collection called Grand Finale, "In my opinion, Grand Finale could be a description for fall. Fall is when Mother Nature gives us one last spectacular show of color before everything is put to bed for the long, colorless winter." Stop by the shop to enjoy this spectacular showing of fall colors - better yet, take some home to enjoy throughout the season!

MIA?

Did you miss us? We were 'missing in action' at the shop for a few days as we attended the Spring International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City last week. Market is always a hustling, bustling time and it's always fun to see what's new in the industry.

Here's a peek thru the second story window of the convention center filled with vendor booths. My feet ache just thinking about all that walking!
Jillily Studios treated everyone to mini sorbet ice cream cones - what a treat for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up!
We just love Edyta Sitar's creative ability to combine batiks and prints into beautiful quilts. Edyta designs under the name of Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda.

We marveled at some of the unique names of quilt designer companies. Some, like "Cluck, Cluck, Sew" made us laugh, while others just left us wondering what they were thinking.
It's always fun to see the 'rich & famous' of the quilting world at market, such as Nancy Zieman, demonstrating her tools, and Eleanor Burns, who both are spokeswomen for Babylock.
One of our favorite displays at quilt market was Riley Blake Designs - we loved this fabric wrapped tree and are trying to figure out how we can recreate it at the shop. Riley Blake, plus 30 other Utah-based quilt-related companies, hosted a booth hop at market. Those who completed the hop are eligible for prizes from each of the participating booths. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Each evening we were serenaded by Bob, The Bagpiper as we walked back to our hotel.

Stay tuned over the next few months as we unveil some of the great new items we found at market!

Warm Memories

Full Circle

Black and tan is all the rage in fabric this year. Almost every company we've seen has a collection featuring the combination - and we've ordered a few. The first one to arrive is "Full Circle" by Moda. This black and tan collection has a punch of red color. These would be perfect paired with your black or red embroidery work. What dramatic quilts it will make!
