June Classes

Beat the early summer heat and join us at the shop for one - or more - of the classes we have scheduled during June! Stop by the shop to sign up as space is limited. Each of the following classes is free with the purchase of fabric and supplies.....

• Less Than Traditional Class - Saturday, June 5, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. We've had several requests to offer this class again, so here it is. This class features a circular ruler that makes variations of the cathedral window block in a quilt-as-you-go method. Instructor - Belinda Oldham.
• Snap Happy Class - Saturday, June 12, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Make either the Snap Happy bags or Snap Happier purse that features a metal tape measure for the 'secret' closure - pretty snappy! Instructor - Sharla Krenzel.
• Spiral Tablerunner Class - June 26, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Make this beautiful tablerunner that features the 9 degree ruler (we'll have another class this fall that uses this ruler to make a Christmas tree skirt!) Instructor - Janet Droste.

Where has the time gone.....

Whew! May is always a whirlwind and this year is no different. We've been busy making plans for classes and events, so watch for our newsletter coming out later this week......

In the meantime, stop in and see the latest to arrive at the shop - Kansas Troubles newest holiday collection "Wrapped in Paisley". We have the entire collection, plus fat quarter bundles and jelly rolls (charm packs and layer cakes should arrive any day). Get a jump on your country Christmas decorating projects with this beautiful collection.

Picnic Perfect

Here's another example that quilts don't have to be hard and complicated. This one took about 3 hours to whip up and would be perfect for a sunny afternoon picnic. This features American Jane's latest collection for Moda called "A Breath of Avignon". Watch for a pattern for this at the shop soon!

Dolly Dresses

We received a new fabric panel from LakeHouse Dry Goods called "Dolly Dresses" that is as cute as a button - and you're encouraged to embellish these little dresses with buttons, ribbons, lace and everything girlie! Little (and big) girls will just love it.

Love Me, Love Me Not

Just in time for spring is the latest collection to arrive at the shop. "Love Me, Love Me Not" by Ro Gregg for Northcott is a bright and pretty collection of pinks, greens and blacks featuring daisies. These fabrics would be fun in aprons, bags, throws and more! So stop by and pick a handful of daisies to take home.

Big, Bold & Beautiful

Quilts do not have to be complicated and time consuming. This one features big 17 " blocks and was a quick afternoon sewing project. This 74" x 74" quilt evokes a romantic feel by using the "Enchanted Rose" collection, but would look great in any number of colors and prints. Stop by the shop and take a look.

Spring is in full swing at the shop with another beautiful collection inspired by the springtime garden. "Flutterby Garden" by Buggy Barn for Henry Glass Fabrics is blooming with pinks, blues, greens, yellows and creams that just shout spring. Memories of Mother Goose

Travel down memory lane with the latest collection to arrive at the shop. "A Stitch In Time" by Amy Barickman of Indygo Junction for Red Rooster Fabrics is a delightfully charming, 1930's era inspired collection that features stitchery squares depicting classic Mother Goose scenes and complimentary coordinates. The squares can be embellished with embroidery or left as is and could be used in a number of projects from children's activity books to diaper bags to crib ensembles and more!

10 Shops, 3 States, 2 Days.....It's Road Trip Time!

Join the fun on Prairie Flower Quilt Co.'s Shop Hop Tour on Friday and Saturday, April 9 & 10. We have lots of fun planned while we hop from shop to shop on the Prairie Stars Quilt Shop Hop. We'll start with breakfast and more at the shop on Friday morning, then travel to shops in Lakin, Garden City, Copeland and Liberal on Friday. We'll stay the night in Liberal, then visit shops in Turpin and Guymon, OK, Springfield, CO, Johnson and Syracuse before arriving back at the shop. Everyone on the tour will be entered into the Prairie Stars Shop Hop drawing for a chance to win $1000 in gift certificates ($100 from each shop) or 100 fat quarters. We'll have games, gift bags, prizes, snacks and more. Cost is $80 (double occupancy) or $60 (quad occupancy) per person (includes breakfast at the shop, transportation, hotel, gift bag, snacks and as much fun as a car load of ladies can have!). Basically Kaye Shirtings

Last week the latest collection to arrive at the shop was Kaye England's "Basically Kaye Shirtings" collection for Wilmington Prints. This vintage collection has a wonderfully scrappy looking project with simple star blocks. Don't you just love the pinks, blues and browns in this quilt! Stop in and order a kit today!

Our Shop Hop Quilt

It's been hanging in the shop for a month now, but finally got pictures taken today. Here is our 2010 Prairie Stars Quilt Shop Hop quilt. It features Marti Michell's Wild Roses Collection and we think it's just gorgeous! Our finishing kit features a plaid ruched inner border and a star outer border. The photo doesn't do it justice, so stop in the shop and check it out!

A touch of nostalgia

Blue Hill Fabrics brings back memories of childhood with their latest collection called Aunt Lindy's Paper Dolls. This cute collection features a couple of panels, border and tossed print fabrics along with color coordinates to make quilts, pillows, fabric "paper" dolls and more. Perfect for girls of all ages!
