4th Anniversary Celebration

We'll host a Trunk Show on Friday, January 18 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center featuring Janna Thomas, creator of Bloc Loc Rulers. Come enjoy an evening of beautiful quilts, quilting tips and tricks, prizes, friends and fun! $5 per person.

Then join us on Saturday for Janna's "Star Fusion" Class, featuring a layering of techniques including string sets, divided rectangles, Bloc Loc rulers, mixing with flying geese, and stitch 'n flip. Every block will be unique like a snowflake! Class is $30 (includes pattern) plus supplies.

Little Black Dress

Stop in and see the latest fabric to arrive at Prairie Flower Quilt Co. "Little Black Dress" by Basic Grey for Moda is a gorgeous collection of florals, lace and geometrics in blacks, greys and beiges. This fabric would be great for everything from aprons to bags to scarves to quilts. In fact, we have a scarf on display that Janet made. Sizzlin' Santa Strip Run

We’re making last minute preparations for our first “Sizzlin’ Santa Strip Run” (aka Christmas in July Shop Hop) with Colby Sew and Vac and The Quilt Cabin in Colby, and Smoky River Quilt Shoppe in Oakley.  The shop hop is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 12-14 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  We hope you’ll join us for a day of quilting fun! At each shop, you can purchase a strip packet for $10 that will feature 5 red and 5 green 2 ½” Christmas strips. Collect all 4 strip packets and choose to make one of the four projects featured at each shop (or purchase more to make all 4!) – check out each shop’s project below. You do not have to purchase the strip packets, though, to participate in the shop hop. Visit each shop to get your passport stamped and you will receive a gift when you turn in your completed passport at the last shop. Completed passports will be entered into a drawing for one of four $50 gift baskets.

Our strip project is this “Christmas Cactus Wreath” quilt. You can choose what size to make:  a tabletopper/wallhanging, throw, full or queen size quilt.  Our quilt is a full-size quilt and measures 80” x 80”. We’ve added a little sparkle to our quilt by using a background fabric with gold metallic swirls, quilting it with gold metallic thread and adding red and green crystals to the cactus tips. Perfect for any holiday setting – and the log cabin blocks are so easy to make! Finishing kits will be available to purchase.

Strip Club

Athill Prairie

We're rearranging fabric today to make room for Moda's latest collection, Athill Range, that arrived earlier this week. Look at the beautiful pattern that came with the fabric. Hmmm, maybe those UFOs will have to wait a little longer because this looks so much more fun to make!

Another new collection from Moda arrived yesterday and we are busy cutting fat quarters today. Athill Range by Cabbage and Roses is full of vintage English charm with just the right amount of colour,  divided into tiny, medium and larger scale prints. Hmmm, we're already dreaming of what shabby chic projects we can make!

Spring has Sprung!

It's starting to look like spring in the shop with the new fabric lines arriving.  One of the latest to arrive is "In the Meadow" by Quilting Treasures.  Fun, modern prints in pinks and greens make up this cute quilt that we're in the process of kitting.  Reserve your kit today!

"Amish Stars" Shop Hop Quilt

Our 2012 Shop Hop quilt is complete and hanging in the shop. This year's shop hop quilts feature star blocks in an Amish theme. You have to see our quilt in person to really appreciate it and the custom feather quilting! Each of the shop's star block kits are $5 and our finishing kit is $70. Finished quilt is 88" x 88". We hope you'll join the fun and participate in the Prairie Stars Shop Hop April 12 -21. Papillon by 3 Sisters for Moda

Last spring while perusing an antique market in Europe, the sisters made a most exciting discovery. An antique quilt from the 1860s with a very unique backing comprised of bold, simple bands of large, faded florals to die for! Feeling quite inspired, the sisters scoured their vast library of antique fabrics to complete their next collection. The dramatic Jacobean and rose ado...rned florals are complimented by the occasional Papillon, which is French for butterfly. Paired with delicate botanical prints in the quilt’s original palette of pale, dusty pinks and aquas with faded red and stone accents, Papillon captures all the splendor of a lush garden estate. 3rd Anniversary Celebration!

You are cordially invited to Prairie Flower Quilt Co.'s 3rd Anniversary Celebration on Friday and Saturday, January 27 & 28.

Join us on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Leoti Senior Center for a "Tips and Tricks" Demo and Trunk Show presented by Marci Baker of Alicia's Attic. Marci is a quilt book author, ruler designer, and international quilting instructor. Marci will show you some of her beautiful quilts, such as her 3D Tumbling Blocks quilts, and demo quilting tips and tricks to create your own beautiful quilts. We'll have sweet treats, gifts and giveaways too.

But the trunk show will just scratch the surface of Marci's wealth of talent, so sign up for her "ABC 3D" class on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. She will teach you her strip-pieced technique for making a tumbling blocks quilt with no Y seams. She'll also discuss fabric selection to make your quilts come alive. Choose to make either the "Inner City" or 'Tumbling Blocks" quilt. Class is $35 plus supplies (book & 9 fat quarters).

Crazy Eight Strip Teaser Tabletopper Class

Join us on Saturday, January 21 as Kathleen Dowling shows how to make a Crazy Eight Strip Teaser Tabletopper. This unique table topper will have you spinning. Almost pinwheel-like in shape and effect. It's created from strip-piecing 8 fabrics together, from light to dark, then cutting them into large and small triangles and sewing them into partial, overlapping squares.
