Scott City Shop Hop

We had a great time at the Scott City Shop Hop last weekend and thank everyone who came out to see us. Scott City Shop Hop

Signs of Spring

Yes, signs of spring are starting to pop up in the shop. Today, Nancy Halvorsen's newest fabric collection, Garden Song by Benartex, arrived. Cute and lively spring prints paired with a wonderfully fun panel, perfect for your next quilting project. Nancy also has a new pattern book, Art to Heart's 'Sew Necessary', filled with fun projects for your sewing room featuring this line of fabric. Stop in and see both.

New Arrivals

More new goodies have arrived at the shop in the last couple of days. Those who love 30's will like American Jane's newest collection called 'A Breath of Avignon'. It features bright and cheery colors with a modern twist.Garden Party by Blackbird Designs features beautiful floral prints in muted shades. This collection has a fun pattern with a unique applique technique.

Another Favorite Shop Recipe

Since we're in the recipe sharing mode, here's another recipe we make frequently at the shop....

Janet's Chicken Salad

1 - 3 oz. package of cream cheese
1/4 cup mayo
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 cup diced, cooked chicken
Chopped grapes
Chopped and toasted almonds

Mix ingredients together. Serve on a lettuce leaf or make into sandwiches (which we usually do). Great on croissants or sandwich deli flats (flat whole wheat sandwich bun). To cut calories, you can use light cream cheese and mayo.

More Snow?

Yes, the weatherman is calling for more snow on Sunday and Monday, so you know what that means....it's time to get to the quilt shop for fabric and supplies for your next project! So you can cuddle up in a toasty home with your sewing machine, quilt project and a warm bowl of soup, here's a recipe we like to make at the shop on these cold winter days:

Sharla's Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 (16 ounce) can chili beans, with liquid
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans with liquid
1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, with liquid
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cups water
2 (14.5 ounce) cans peeled and diced tomatoes
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chile peppers
1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix

Directions:
In a medium skillet, cook the ground beef until browned over medium heat. Drain, and set aside.
Place the ground beef, onion, chili beans, kidney beans, corn, tomato sauce, water, diced tomatoes, green chile peppers and taco seasoning mix in a slow cooker. Mix to blend, and cook on Low setting for 8 hours.

When ready to serve, top with Frito-brand corn chips and shredded cheddar cheese. Mmmmm!
